It has been my wish for many years to take a close-up Bald Eagle Portrait. But every time it was too far away from the Bald Eagle and the camera's focal length was not enough, I failed to take a photo.
When I went to Silverdale WA to take photos of the Bald Eagle in May this year, my wish came true. When an adult Bald Eagle flew towards me, I pressed the shutter to take continuous photos. Soon I heard the vibrations caused by its two huge wings beating the air. At this time, the Bald Eagle was out of focus because it was too close, and I thought it was going to fly behind me. I took my eyes off the viewfinder, and then I found it incredible that the eagle landed on a rock about 15 feet below the shore where I was standing.
We were shocked to see it landed so close to us. To prevent it from flying away soon, we and the other two photographers stood still and did not dare to move the tripod. We could only adjust the camera to take portraits of the eagle. In less than 10 minutes, it flew away, leaving us with unforgettable memories.
